Aprašymas

For forty years, Ricardo Cortez dug up bones and bits. Then he retired, and found that a man who is very good at digging is very bad at doing nothing.

Then comes Killa. She is a young Inca woman who died of a bone infection, long before anyone could have saved her. When her face is rebuilt on a computer screen, she stops being a find in a tray and becomes a girl who should not have died. Ricardo cannot put that down.

So, at 63, he does the only sensible thing a man of his experience could do. He decides to become a doctor.

Nobody warned the medical school. Nobody warned the patients either. Armed with a lifetime of patience, a trowel's worth of stubbornness and a bedside manner picked up from the dead, Ricardo sets about the long climb from retired professor to the newest and oldest face on the ward. There are exams to pass, students half his age to befriend, consultants to confuse, and a past he is still digging through.

Dig DOCTOR Dig is a comic novel about second chances, stubborn old men, and what you owe the ones you could not save. It is warm, quick and rude about hospital life, and it saves its sharpest jokes for the people who think they have seen everything.

Medicine will never be the same. Neither will he.

As for how it all ends, that part is left to you.
